Leading the Digital Transformation: Essential Qualities of a Seeq Champion

At Seeq, we have a large team of motivated, eager and energetic Customer Success Managers (CSM) that share a passion working with customers to transform the way their organization works by getting the most value out of Seeq.  

However, regardless of this team’s efforts, CSMs can only be successful if they are engaged with an equally excited and committed Seeq Champion.  

So, what exactly is a Seeq Champion?    

Simply put, a champion is the person or group of people that owns the rollout and adoption of Seeq within their organization. They are Seeq’s biggest advocate, responsible for educating end users and proclaiming the achieved value to leadership and other business units or sites. They track the success of the rollout and adoption by tracking quantified metrics and soliciting user feedback. Seeq Champions are the linchpins to successful rollout and adoption – bridging the gap between IT and the end users.  

However, just simply knowing the job description does not mean that a champion will be effective. The most successful champions embody similar characteristics, including these top three essential qualities. 

Passionate  

The most important quality is passion–passion for enabling the digital transformation within an organization, for improving efficiencies in the way that process engineers and data scientists work, and for the role that Seeq plays in achieving these goals. A passionate Seeq Champion has a vision of where Seeq fits into their company’s digital portfolio and works to execute this vision. Their passion is tangible and felt by others, motivating them to learn Seeq and integrate it into their daily work.    

Strong communicator   

Communication skills are foundational in almost every task in which a Seeq Champion will engage. A champion works with many people, such as end users, IT team members, stakeholders, and sponsors, to name a few. In all these interactions, it is important for champions to clearly and effectively communicate the value of Seeq, tailoring the message to different audiences.   

For example, when presenting to a group of potential new users, it may be important to highlight how Seeq will save them time and increase efficiencies. When speaking with a stakeholder or sponsor, the messaging may center more around cost savings, such as material, energy or waste reduction. In either case, the messaging must be clear and concise and motivate people to act, whether that’s by personally adopting Seeq or sponsoring the rollout. Communication is, of course, a two-way street and must also include taking and acting upon feedback from end users.  

 Creative 

As with any initiative, teams are bound to encounter challenges. These challenges may include other competing tools within your organization, end users that are unwilling to adopt a new technology, or quantifying the achieved value. When a challenge is encountered, creativity is a valuable skill to help work towards a solution. Creative initiatives may include:  

  • Sponsoring a Seeq hackathon to generate buzz and get users interested in learning Seeq  
  • Running an internal competition to incentivize users to submit use cases with quantified value  
  • Organizing a Seeq user forum to share use cases and establish an internal community of practice  

While Seeq CSMs will work with champions on the rollout and adoption of Seeq and share best practices along the way, it’s important to remember that no two deployments are the same. The CSM will collaborate to brainstorm how to best manage the company’s unique rollout of Seeq. Together, the CSM and champion will determine what works best to overcome the present challenge through perseverance and persistence.  

Partnering with a CSM

It is rare for one Seeq Champion to be an expert in all these skills. Therefore, in some cases, it makes sense to have a couple people or a small team focused on supporting different aspects of the rollout.  Whatever the situation is and the skills presented, champions should not hesitate to lean on their Seeq CSM. CSMs are already passionate about Seeq and are ready to share their experiences working with other Seeq Champions across the industry. Learn why partnering with a CSM is essential to success here.
